What are Columbia Threadneedle proposing?
Columbia Threadneedle are preparing a planning application for a residential-led redevelopment of the site. The proposals will provide a high-quality mixed-use scheme with an enhanced public realm at this primary town centre area. The development seeks to echo the design and appearance of the current building and the proposals will ensure the key characteristics of the original building can be preserved. The development will integrate well within the surrounding area, providing much needed new homes for the local community.
The site also offers the opportunity for new commercial and community uses at the ground floor. We are interested in your thoughts on the type of spaces that you would like to see within this area.
The plans currently propose:
- Creation of approximately 60 new apartments, with a mixture of 1, 2 and 3 bedroom homes;
- Provision of affordable homes;
- Two new retail units;
- A new community unit;
- Secure underground car parking; and
- New landscaping to the front of the site to improve the public realm.
What are the next steps?
We are seeking feedback from local communities and stakeholders before a planning application is submitted to Bromley Borough Council later this year. The proposals are at an early stage and you have the opportunity to provide feedback to further shape the scheme.
If planning permission is granted, the scheme will be redeveloped once the current lease arrangements for the existing Wickes store come to an end.
